I rescued this 2.4lb kitten from a tree in my front yard. It's 90+ degrees where I live and I also noticed an owl so I brought him into my house. His colors are striking! And he has the longest legs I've seen on a kitten. Just curious what type of kitten he is.
Dragonstree He looks like he's a smoke! Basically a regular black cat + the inhibitor gene. If you part his hair and the roots are bright white, that'll confirm it.
Smoke cats often have ghost striping, where the underlying tabby pattern that every void cat has becomes visible. That's what this guy has going on. Breed is domestic shorthair.

daniellowww My cat Cali (Calypso) looked just like that when she was a baby. Now she just looks like a black cat. Black fur but it's weird because she has a white/ light core, like her skin underneath is white. I call her a
reverse polar bear. (Polar bears have black skin with white fur, she has white skin with black fur). I thought she was a tortie/gonna be colored like a tortie at first with her colors being black and gray instead of black and orange/ gray and cream but nope.

nepenthe154 If it persists to adulthood it's called smoke tabby. If it fills in black all over as kitty grows then mama had a fever before kitty was born.

pattepai Looks like my grumpy old lady!
lovepeacefakepiano Beautiful little domestic shorthair. His coat may change as he gets older, too. I've seen fever coat in kittens - I haven't seen one look quite like that but wouldn't rule it out (fever coats can happen when the mother cat was stressed or
unwell during the pregnancy, they come out with a lighter smoky colour and then eventually their actual coat colour replaces the grey).
Adorable_Football130 he may have some fever coat. he looks very thin and you found him in a not great environment without a mom nearby. his coat may change when it grows out some.
Kaheena_ That's my Luna...a void with ghost white stripes!

arthritey-and-bitey Our older girl looks like this and she is a smoke tabby. Her fur is dark/tabby on the top and completely white underneath. The white has become more pronounced and come through more on her chest especially as she's gotten older.
